3rd Generation Iris’s…

Wow….What a day of hard work.  Sheena and I put in about 8 hours of good hard labor in our yard today.  Yeah my back hurts….Anyone know someone who got a good Hot Tub to loan for one night…..

Take a look at the picture… On the left you’ll see we got the periwinkles in place, along the back wall are our Iris’s, then in the white fence on the right is Sheena’s Raspberry/Blueberry/Strawberry garden, and in front of the meter we have our 2 Sprig’s of “Rose of Sharon”.  The yard looks so good and Sheena is way proud of the hard work she put in it.  I cant wait to see what it will all look like when we’re done.  It will give my 2 little ladies an awesome backyard to play in!

The Iris’s are pretty special…They were my Nanny’s (Mom’s mom), then planted in my mom’s yard and then she flew them to us and are now in our yard!  3rd Generation Iris’s!  My nanny was awesome….she could throw ANY seed anywhere and it would grow!  My mom definately learned from the best!

Flying flowers….

Well tonight Sheena and I are going to be doing the first of many rounds of landscaping at our house.  We’ll do some prep work tonight and do the majority all day tomorrow.  Typically we would not work on a thursday night because LOST is on….but since we had the writers strike we now have a 4-5 week delay till the new ones come back on….It is a time for mourning…

 My parents are mailing us a ton of Periwinkle flowers so we can plant them tomorrow.  We have a dead area in the back corner of our yard and this will truly help out tremendously!  We will keep ya posted and we’ll see if we still got the green thumb or not. 

Chubby Bunny…

Well today I got a couple minutes free time and I went to the YMCA here in Edmond and got a quick tour and some prices for the Full Facility.  Sounds like a great deal….Time to take the plunge and commit to change.  Sheena and I have got to be healthier….To many times I have failed and not committed.  This time I got a cause to fight for…..My family & my health.

The Sprig….

What is a sprig you ask?  I dunno… All i know is its like a seed that fell off a tree and is growing…

If you don’t know, Sheena and I are spending the summer sprucing up our landscaping of our front and back yard.  So far we have cleared out our front lawn of old timbers and in our backyard we have had a fence installed.  Now we are just getting to the point to doing some bigger things to fill it in before the spring 100% kicks in!  Yeah we had a 34 degrees weather last night, spring hasn’t started yet! 

Yesterday Sheena added her first installment to a plethora of plants,trees & bushes….for now it’s 2 sprigs of “Rose of Sharon” bushes.   Our sprigs are puny and sad like a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree.  They are just 2 little sticks growing out of the ground that we are hoping will grow into these nice bushes which will be the beginning of a nicely decorated backyard.  As for our front yard we are going to be doing some substantial renovating.  I look forward to the changes and we will more than likely begin in the next 2 weeks for the first big installment… Up rooting a tree and moving it….I’ll keep ya posted…

Chicken Nuggets Oscar Meyer Wiener…..

Friday Night we had out 1st of 7 Experiences for Easter Weekend here at LifeChurch.tv.  It was a great kick off to an awesome weekend. 

I saw an opportunity friday night to really connect with one student….In Studio 45 we have a bead table to where kids can make various bead accessories (necklaces, bracelets and so forth.)  I walked up and said “Okay lets make a necklace with some words on it.  Who wants to help and what do we want it to say?”  Well we came up with a phrase… ”Chicken Nuggets Oscar Meyer Wiener.”  (remember its a 5th grader )  This gave us a ton of time to find the letters and just chat as we built this funny necklace.  During this time we chatted about all kinds of funny/serious/dumb stuff.  At the end of the night he did not want to leave until I left.   It was in this time that most people would say “Why are they making a dumb necklace?”  I saw it as a time to connect with a student and build a bond that will continue to grow. 

Use every moment…It matters..maybe not to you but it will to them. 

7 Easters…

Well tomorrow at the OKC Campus of LifeChurch.tv is the beginning of 7 Easter Experiences.  (Check them out here if your interested) I am looking forward to seeing the outcome of everyone coming and hearing this awesome message series “Warrior“.   This could be the biggest weekend for LC this year and for that fact all churches all over the country.  I love this weekend because people come to church twice a year no matter what….No marketing, no promotions, not anything needed.  They come because for a million reasons….So it is vital this weekend that we capture each and everyone so that they come week after week.  Don’t allow them to slip away….When you see someone who walks into the church who looks like they have no idea whats going on….Those are the ones you need to pay attention to.  Those are the ones that walk in very skittish, questioning there every step into the church.  Where ever you attend make sure you do all you can to reach them and listen….beat the stereotypes they may have about Christians, YOU could be the difference.  I plan on being the difference in my world……please join me.

American Idol…

OKAY its getting kinda weird here….

 Sheena once again called 2 of the Bottom 3 of American Idol and also called the loser…..The Rock & Roll nurse Amanda Overmyer is gone!  I bow to my wife in reverence to her mad skills in which they pay DA bills.

Another Lump in the bed….

Here’s the scene….Sheena and I are comfortably sleeping in our bed then at the dark nights time of 1:30am we hear pitter patter of little 2 year old feet as she is holding her baby pulling a slow dragging soft blanket down our hallway.  Then with a brief moment of silence and a drop of a silk blanket…….we feel a little tug on our bed sheet……a baby gets tossed on our bed as a hand grenade would get tossed in a bunker….then as if an elephant attempts to scale a mountain onto our bed and then as a rhino would tromp through an African forest our daughter makes it up our bed and plops down on our pillow.  Then from our daughters mouth comes these words…………..

Brooklyn: “Hi Mommy!”

Sheena: “Go back to bed in your big girl bed Brooklyn”

Brooklyn: “I can’t, there are frogs burping in my room”

Sheena: “What?, Brooklyn go to bed”

Brooklyn: ”Okay Mommy”

She once again tromps through the forest to the end of the bed and slips down to our floor.   She forgets her baby of course….so once again scales the bed ever so not gently…..

Repeat this action for 5 times throughout the night and insert these different excuses “I’m thirsty”, ”The train is too loud”, ”Where’s my baby?” (it was in her bed), & “Remember we saw a horsie at the Ser-vicks (that would be….Circus)”  Now who would not LOVE to have these conversations in the morning hours between 1:30am & 5:00am? (notice the heavily laid sarcasm)

My dose of Rock Stardom…Part 3

OK….Final Chapter here.  I’ll make it short for you all….Plus I am sure you are bored with this topic but hey, It’s me in My House Full of Ladies.

We got to play at D.C. as I mentioned earlier….Pretty amazing but it does get better.  We were playing at a gig for like 300 Youth and at the end of the night one of the Big Youth Director Guys of the Baptist General Convention asked us to play at this event that was HUGE.  It was overseas at the European Baptist Convention in Grunewald, Switzerland in the Alps.  We accepted…..   Last year at this event they had a little band named “Newsboys”.  So it was a big honor to play for this crowd of Youth.  They hailed from 9 countries and 14 languages were spoke between them.  It was quite an experience to be apart of.  The best way to describe this is imagine that the Baptist’s from the whole North America meets for one week for Youth Camp….That’s what this was for the Continent of Europe. 

About a year after we got back and played other gigs all over something happened……we all graduated from College.  We split our ways to where God had us to go for the next chapter of our life. 

 Oh Yeah our name…..”Together Since Monday”

People at every place we played asked about our name and what did it mean, We got questions on our Website and constantly asked questions of the meaning.  We got tons and tons of funny, spiritual, physical, and crazy meanings but no one ever got it. 

Here’s the Meaning….Once the first gig was about to begin the guy introducing us said “Now Introducing…….Hey guys whats your name?”  They all looked at each other and our Guitar player spoke up and said “I dunno but we only been playing Together Since Monday” (reference First Post in this series)

Well there ya go….My dose of Rock Stardom….Do you have a dose of Rock Stardom in any form or fashion?  High School? College? At your job?  I’d love to hear!  Come on brag a little!
