A new Blog….

Well this weekend I am getting the cutlass and I am doing a couple things to get ready for the car.

1.  Prepping the garage.  I got to make sure it is ready and clean so i can begin doing some work and plus i want to leave the top down….so i got to make sure the garage is ready for another car. (even though it is my man cave Sheena still parks HER car in there)  (well that’s going to change pretty soon).

2.  Prepping the 4 runner.  Why do i need to prep my 4 runner?  Well it is not running great and i am going to let my father-in-law drive it as long as he needs to.  He has no A/C and the car he drives is rough.  So I am making sure it is running good before i give it to him.  As the process of restoring the cutlass if i need to borrow the 4 runner we can make arrangements.

3.  Blog.  Yep I went ahead and made a blog for the restoration of the cutlass.  You can find it here. So you can follow all my steps in making the cutlass match what my vision is in my head!

Coffee and 4 days….

These 2 things totally don’t go together but I got 2 things I just got to share!  First of all I got 4 days till I get to pick up the Cutlass!  Sweet!

The 2nd thing is this morning I get ready for work and stopped by a starbucks to get a little coffee action.  I rarely get to do this but it was a little treat to myself!)  Well I ordered my venti coffee and as I was waiting for mine to be professionally brewed by the barista I heard the following order ripped off right beside me.

One Carmel Machiato decaf with extra extra extra extra carmel sauce with whipped cream stirred in the coffee with an extra shot of espresso.

Okay come on……thats custom!  One of the funniest things about Starbucks I think is that as you walk up they ask if you want to try a new drink that they are promoting.  I feel anyone walking into Starbucks has there drink in mind and rarely tries something new!  I am sure that the following converstaion did NOT happen in her mind…..

“Hmmm what do i want today? A Latte? a mocha something? hmmmm….maybe i’ll try a Carmel Machiato decaf with extra extra extra extra carmel sauce with whipped cream stirred in the coffee with an extra shot of espresso.”

first purchase for cutlass…

Well you got to start somewhere….

I made my first purchase towards the cutlass.  An important one a YearOne catalog!  I get excited thumbing through the catalog seeing some potential in the car and refining and sharpening the vision of what this thing is going to look like.  I am pretty pumped and i know what each step is going to look like and what the outcome of each section will look like.  I believe my dad has a owners’ manual but if he doesn’t i know exactly where to go to get one!

I am already in the process of getting my aunt becky (amazing seamstress….ridiculously amazing) she is going to be doing some custom car seat covers for the girls as I tote them around.  I am letting sheena toss some ideas out and i know it’ll look good and be fun for the girls. 

So i am debating on doing a car restoration blog or not….hmmm i still got a little time.  Even though the car will be here soon!

what happened justin?

Okay here’s what happened in the last 4 days…..

1.  Laptop had to get wiped…Yeah about to check out a video on a common blog and a virus ripped me up, so i was with no laptop since like 2pm or so last thursday

2.  Got to see a great friend thursday afternoon… Larry Boatright (he’s on my blogroll) came up to OKC to visit a family member in the hospital and found time to come see me.  It was awesome seeing you larry.  Love ya always bro!  And yeah I aint kiddin’  I’ll buy your Iphone!

3.  We finished our landscaping on the yaupon holly…(pictures to come)

4.  My ladies and I went to Chickasha for a family reunion….Brooklyn and Bailee got to ride an amazing horse and they loved it!  Nice having a jockey in the family! 

5.  Had a great father’s day on Sunday….girls made me some homemade cards.  Very special to me…..Sheena said I could take out a small loan and do some great things to the Cutlass to take it to the next level!  Amd yes I’ll be posting pictures and updates as I go.  Thanks BABE!

6.  Friday night Sheena and I went to a Redhawks game and had killer seats!  It was amazing cause we got to see some dear firends and got to do some quality catchup time and got to do some rough planning on some upgrades on the cutlass.  Plus he’s going to be my painter!

7.  Got to hear Jentzen Franklin today as we taped the oneprayer message.  Thats a whole new converstaion…..want your world to get totally flipped?  want your life to be different from this day on?  go to www.oneprayer.com and hang on……..FAST with me tomorrow and let’s do oneprayer.   I could talk all day on this!

Pretty crazy last 4 days!  Been fun and I leave you with a question….a simple one….Do I post my Cutlass Restoration on this blog or do a new one strictly devoted to the cutlass restoration process?

Huge News….

The following phone conversation happened last night about 9pm or so………………………

Dad and Mom: Hey Justin how do you spell sheena’s middle name?  Is it D-a-w-n?

Sheena and Me:  yeah?!?

Dad and Mom:  Okay…How do you spell you middle name? Is it W-a-y-n-e?

Sheena and Me:  Ummm….yeah…..are you guys ok? *as they chuckle in the background*

Dad and Mom:  Yeah were fine…We were just wanting to make sure that we spell your name right when we put your name on the title of the cutlass.

Sheena and Me:  *Screaming and yelling as i do a tiger pump in the garage* THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!  YES YES YES LOVE YA LOVE YA LOVE YA!

If you dont understand this is not just a normal cutlass….This is a 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass supreme convertible with some family history behind it!  My cousin Travis owned it and when he got married he drove off in it…..when Sheena and I got married (almost 5 years ago) we got to drive off in it and I have been wanting to own it for YEARS!  Now we get it and I get to fix it up and cruise!  I WILL so definetly be blogging about all my changes and all the steps I take to bring it to a great restoration!  The best part about it is that Sheena is excited and 100% backing me in working on this car.  Here is a picture of what it looks like…now this is NOT the car but this picture will give you a good idea.  I have had plans for this car for so many years and I am ready to do some execution!  Now I understand this wont be a overnight deal but you will see the car constantly improving.  Sometimes visible and sometimes you wont be able to tell.  I just know that this will be a great project and a great thing for our family to travel in and enjoy doing as a family.  OBVIOUSLY you’ll bee seeing tons of posts and tons of pictures!  Man my parents are awesome. 

our new toy….

Finally we are getting a great investment for our family!  The Canon Rebel EOS XT Digital camera!  IT is a 8 Megapixel camera that after hearing and reading tons of opinions this camera is a top notch high quality entry level camera!  So we are glad to have it on its way right now.  We purchased it online and we should expect it with in the next couple days or so.  I also have the great privilage of having Shelly Garrett teach me how to use this camera effectively.  If we are getting this camera i really what to know how to USE it.  We have a good camera right now but we really want to just take the step up from the “Point & Shoot” style camera.  (if anyone if looking to buy one…our is for sale for $100)  pass the word along…it come with some goodies too.

winding down…

Well…. Were back from vacation….kinda

It is so tough to wind down and get back into the swing of things….We are used to sleeping in late, casually getting ready for the day and making loose plans for what to do for the day. 

I am not ready to flip the switch and get back to “reality”.  I want to be ready to hit the road running and in full speed.  I am feeling rested and ready to see the work family.  Working with people side by side month after month day after day….You build family, community, and a close bond….I love it.  (P.S. that’s the secret to a close community….time)

Anywho….I’ll be back in fuill swing on tuesday….I got one more special day to spend with my family after this amazing vacation…..My last special day.  Brooklyn turns 3 tomorrow.  June 2nd!  Happy Birthday sweet girl!
