I know a post is long due so here ya go!
We have made a BIG decision in the Edge Household. To paint or not to paint.
The big debate is that we have dark wood trim EVERYWHERE in our house. Wainscotting, base trim, rafters, mantle, built-in bookcase and laundry hamper! So do we….
A. Keep all the wood trim and capitilize on its features? looks nice but leaves the house feeling very dark. Kinda keeps the house with a dated feel.
B. Paint the trim a lighter color and brighten the room? Looks clean and makes the whole room a brighter more modern feel.
Well with a ton of debate we went ahead and painted the living room and entry way a lighter color. The actual color is labeled “Betsy’s Linens” it is a soft white and looks pretty good. I had a tough time with the initial color because I was used to the dark brown. But I think it will look good. We will be doing some more painting this week with the goal of finishing the book case and doing all the trim in the rooms. A tough task to complete in 4 days but it is doable.
Why 4 days?
My parents are coming in this weekend! Whoop Whoop! So we want to surprise them with a little something something. I know it is a tedious little task (painting every wood thing in your house!) but it is a task that you just can’t do and forget. Once you start you MUST complete the whole thing…..Just think look in your own house. Imagine dark wood on one side of the hall and white on the other…..ODD!
So as that task goes on the next week we have some other projects set up for the summer.
1. Continue with the weed control/grass growth. We have a company who is REALLY blessing us with an amazing deal on come lawn care. He did one treatment and the weeds are pretty much gone already! Our grass will be back to its full potential in a couple of 6 weeks to 2 months!
2. Build a cover for our bricks on our front entry way. Right now our bricks are not looking to good so we decided to make a “bench/covering” to help the overall look of our curb appeal. I will be working on plans in the next month or so. Little at a time.
3. Just keep adding to the flowers in the front and back yard. We spend 75% of our evenings outside so we want to make sure it looks good for us and the girls to have fun playing outdoors!
Well thats all I got now. Time to go home and do some more painting!
